Easter Sunday looks a little different when you`re crossing Australia by train. 🐣✨
Guests aboard The Ghan began their journey from Adelaide to Darwin today, starting with bubbles after check-in before settling in for their first day on board. With a long lunch, spectacular views, and a three-course dinner ahead, it’s the perfect way to ease into the journey.
Meanwhile, on the Indian Pacific, guests woke to sunrise over Kalgoorlie before heading out to explore on this morning’s Off Train Experiences. This afternoon, they’ll relax on board as the train glides across the Nullarbor, finishing the day in the outback town of Cook, where stories are shared under a blanket of stars.

Meet Bob, a dedicated member of our team for over five years, and an essential part of helping us bring The Ghan Expedition to life in some of Australia’s most remote locations.
Each season from April to October, Bob, his son Jaron, and a tight-knit team of six coach drivers make Coober Pedy their base. One driver is a proud local, while the rest travel up from Adelaide to help showcase this unique part of the country. Together, they take our guests to some of the town’s most iconic sites, from the Breakaways and Umoona Opal Mine to the underground Serbian Orthodox Church.
When Bob and his team aren`t leading tours, they’re busy maintaining the fleet, preparing the Ghan coaches for the twice-weekly journey across rugged dirt roads to Manguri, where The Ghan awaits.

This morning, The Ghan Expedition departed on its first journey of the year, marking the beginning of another season of extraordinary adventures. Leaving Darwin, guests settled into their cabins and enjoyed their first lunch on board. This afternoon they arrived in Katherine for their first Off Train Experience, cruising along the stunning Nitmiluk Gorge.
There, guests immersed themselves in the deep cultural significance of Nitmiluk, gliding through the first and second Gorges while listening to stories from the Jawoyn people, the traditional custodians of the land. More than just a gorge cruise, this Off Train Experience is a celebration of ancient traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and the spirit of the outback.
