Welcome to Adelaide. After checking into your accommodation in the heart of the CBD, there are plenty of opportunities to delve into its food, wine, arts and shopping scenes, and get to know the laid-back capital.
Overnight: 3 nights Mayfair Hotel
The Barossa may only be an hour by car from Adelaide, but when you’re transported to its lush vineyards and gently rolling hillsides, you’ll feel a world away. Famed for its wines, this historic region is home to more than 80 cellar doors, including one of the oldest in the world. Guided by vignerons, you’ll explore up to four cellar doors and enjoy a sumptuous two-course lunch on this expertly-crafted all day tour. (B,L)
Today is yours to explore Adelaide and surrounds at your leisure. The elegant capital’s wine culture is matched with a buzzing food scene: find out why in its laneway bars and restaurants. Or perhaps explore it’s cultural, artistic, or retail life – the choice is yours. (B)
McLaren Vale and Glenelg Tour – from $79 pp
Your tour begins in Adelaide, where you’ll board the 20-seater coach ready for your adventure, which starts with a drive to picturesque McLaren Vale. Once in McLaren Vale your first stop is the stunning Chapel Hill Winery. Have your taste buds primed and your camera poised as your host tantalizes you with a wonderful, structured wine tasting experience in their picturesque cellar door.
From Chapel Hill it’s on to the Main Street of McLaren Vale. Here you’ll have some free time to enjoy a taste or two of wine at Hardy Tintara’s Cellar door, grab a coffee and watch the world go by, visit the fabulous Almond Train or pop into the Fruchocs factory and pick out a selection of sweet gifts, before you again board the coach and head to your second winery of the day, the quaint Shingleback Winery. Enjoy a structured tasting of Shingleback’s finest wines, and if you’re peckish, you can purchase a cheeseboard to enjoy with your wine.
As you depart McLaren Vale for Adelaide, you’ll head towards Glenelg along the coastal scenic route. Gaze out at the South Australian coastline before reaching the beautiful beachside suburb of Glenelg.
Unwind and familiarise yourself with your cabin as the journey begins, before savouring a long lunch onboard with your fellow travellers. (B)
Leaving Adelaide behind, you’ll be transported to the striking Grampians, one of the nation’s most stunning wilderness regions. This magical place is home to ancient sandstone mountains, Indigenous rock art sites, dazzling waterfalls and native fauna including wallabies and echidnas.

After a restful night on board, today you’ll discover why Australia capital is more than just politics. While the jewel in Canberra’s crown is undoubtedly Parliament House, this compact city is also home to landmarks such as the National Portrait Gallery, Australian War Memorial and the National Arboretum, and today there are plenty of opportunities to delve into Canberra’s art, history and culinary culture. Feel the sand between your toes and the sea breeze in your hair as you enjoy brunch on the beach near Coffs Harbour this morning, with superb views of the Northern new South Wales Coast. Return to the train for more pampering as your rail journey continues to its destination, Brisbane.

Today your tour takes you into the Gold Hinterland. O’Reilly’s is situated in the centre of the cool, quiet rainforest of World-Heritage listed Lamington National Park with its spectacular panoramic views. En-route to O’Reilly’s enjoy a stroll along ‘Gallery Walk,’ Mt Tamborine’s unique local art and crafts shops.
Upon arrival at O’Reilly’s, you’ll be enchanted by the calls of an amazing array of native birds. Enjoy the scenery and calm amongst the top of the trees as you take a stroll along the ‘Tree Top Walk’ 16 metres above the rainforest floor. (B, L)
