Your adventure begins at Sydney’s Central Station, where the Indian Pacific waits to carry you across the continent. As the train eases away from the platform and city skylines fall away, you’ll soon be surrounded by the soaring sandstone cliffs and deep valleys of the Blue Mountains. Settle into your cabin or join fellow travellers in the lounge for a drink as the journey unfolds.
This evening, take your seat in the dining carriage for your first regionally-inspired dinner, thoughtfully paired with fine Australian wines and beverages. Afterward, return to the lounge carriage for a nightcap or retreat to your cabin as the train rolls westward. (D)
Your morning begins in Broken Hill, the fabled Silver City. After a hearty breakfast, step off the train for your first Off Train Experience and discover the town’s rich mining history and enduring character on a guided walking tour. Alternatively, explore its creative spirit with a lively morning of entertainment, local flavours, and stories that reveal a different side of Broken Hill.
Back on board, enjoy breakfast and lunch as the Indian Pacific sweeps past the southern tip of the Flinders Ranges, South Australia, and arrives into Adelaide by late afternoon for a choice of curated food and wine experiences. Savour the flavours of the Fleurieu Peninsula with a tasting of regional wines, local produce, and South Australian spirits, followed by dinner showcasing the region’s seasonal character. Alternatively, discover the Adelaide Hills with a wine tasting among the vines before dinner inspired by the region’s German heritage and local produce. In the city, explore Adelaide’s brewing heritage with a behind-the-scenes Coopers brewery experience, followed by a teppanyaki dinner and evening stroll to Adelaide Oval (seasonal). Or discover the historic Adelaide Central Market after hours with curated tastings, a hands-on culinary experience, and a produce-led dinner accompanied by regional wines and live music.
After a memorable evening, return to the Indian Pacific to continue your westward journey. (B, L, D)
Today is all about the vast, unforgettable views of the Nullarbor Plain. Awaken to the rolling dunes of Ooldea and spend the morning watching from your window as the landscape morphs into iconic arid country. You’ll journey across the legendary expanse on the world’s longest stretch of straight railway track, before pausing at Cook, a once-bustling railway town and now a near-empty outpost with stories etched into its weathered buildings.
By evening the train will roll into Rawlinna, on the edge of Australia’s largest sheep station. Here, the outback comes alive as you dine beneath a canopy of stars at a spectacular signature long-table dinner (seasonal, weather permitting). Alternatively, gather around a roaring bonfire with drinks and canapés to soak up the atmosphere of this remarkable setting. (B, L, D)
Wake to the soft light over Western Australia’s Avon Valley, its rolling green hills a fitting finale to your transcontinental adventure. Savour a leisurely brunch on board as the train makes its final approach into Perth. Soon, you’ll step off the Indian Pacific, farewelling fellow travellers and crew after sharing 4,352 unforgettable kilometres between Australia’s coastlines. (B)
